"The City has done a great job getting this program together,” says Louise Mann, one of three owners of Wash Day Laundry. “I’m happy in general that Austin embraces the concept of being environmentally responsible."

Mann says environmentally responsible business practices just seemed like common sense when she and her partners opened their first Laundromat three years ago. They outfitted the first Wash Day Laundry with energy-efficient equipment, recycling bins for customers to use, solar blinds and a reasonable thermostat temperature. Wash Day also encourages customers to return wire hangers and plastic bags for recycling and uses a no-additive detergent to minimize the amount of chemical runoff from their stores.
